According to Wikipedia, Disco is a genre of music which was popular from the mid to late 1970s. Its initial audiences were club-goers from the African American, Latino, gay, and psychedelic communities in New York City and Philadelphia during the late 1960s and early 1970s.
Fundraisers and party planners have gone crazy in recent years reviving Saturday Night Fever and Kung Fu Fighting. Rochester's original party band The 10 Ugly Men started a local fundraiser called the Ugly Disco that has gone viral and for 13 years has been an amazing benefit for Golisano Children's Hospital. VIP and general admission tickets are available at TicketMaster, Wegmans and will be available right in our stores at 1225 Portland Avenue and at Marketplace Mall very soon.
Check out www.uglydisco.com for more details.
Arlene's Costumes has been a sponsor of the Ugly Disco since its inception. We love the groovy feeling and we love helping children!
The mission of Golisano Children’s Hospital http://www.urmc.rochester.edu/childrens-hospital/ is to provide the best possible care to the children and families of Western New York through teaching, caring, learning, and discovering the most effective treatment options for every child that walks through their doors.
The resources provided by everyone involved with the Ugly Disco will support the Patient Supportive Care Program and the Bright Eyes Fund. The Patient Supportive Care Program is designed to help alleviate patient suffering through high-quality pain and symptom management, patient-centered care for those experiencing serious illness, and by providing support for patients, family members, and friends.
The Bright Eyes Fund was established to help fund educational and research efforts and to enhance diagnostic and treatment options for patients with Pediatric Brain Tumors.
This year's Ugly Disco is dancing its way in to Rochester on April 1st at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center and of course costumes are a must!
